Meet the Director
Welcome to St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool!
My name is Heidi de la Motte, or Ms. Heidi, and I have the joy of serving as the Preschool Director.
Lutheran education has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in an education home, with my father serving as a Lutheran school principal and my mom as a Lutheran school teacher. I attended Lutheran schools from preschool through my master’s degree, and I began my career in elementary education, serving as both a teacher and elementary principal.
While I loved my years in elementary education, preschool is truly where my heart is. I have been serving in preschool leadership for over 25 years, and I believe the early childhood years are some of the most important years in a child’s life. Preschool is where children begin to build confidence, learn to trust teachers, make friends, grow in independence and discover that school can be a joyful place.
At St. Paul’s, I am especially grateful for the opportunity to lead a Christ-centered preschool where children are known, loved and nurtured as beloved children of God. My desire is for every child to feel safe, cared for and encouraged, and for every family to feel welcomed as part of our St. Paul’s community.
As a director, I value strong relationships, clear communication, developmentally appropriate learning and a healthy school culture. I love partnering with teachers and families to create a preschool experience filled with faith, play, outdoor learning, meaningful routines and joyful discovery.
Outside of school, my husband and I are beginning a new season of life. We have two adult daughters who are both recently married, and we are enjoying a little peace and quiet before the grandkids arrive.
I am grateful for the privilege of serving the children and families of St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program. We would love to welcome you to campus and share what makes St. Paul’s such a special place for young children to learn, grow and experience the love of Jesus.
